As a serious student and practitioner of the occult for nearly 25 years I can say without hesitation I've never seen a more dangerously flawed book. This book is absolutely filled with false correspondences. I can only assume that the positive reviews are coming from those who are new to the occult. I don't know who this book would be useful for as it's only likely to hinder and confuse a newcomer and baffle or anger someone more experienced. Many of the correspondences here make little sense and often contradict tradition and common sense. I'll give some examples so that you can decide for yourself. In the section "Issues, Intentions, and Powers" is listed "Stimulation (To Get Something Started), where the planetary correspondence is the Sun and the tarot suit of Cups. The Sun (which, despite being fire, has little to nothing to do with initiative) and Cups (which rules emotions and intuition)! How are they even coming up with this stuff? The more traditional and appropriate correspondence would be Mars and Wands. Mars is the very definition of action and initiative and the suit of Wands governs action specifically. These are pretty basic correspondences. These same correspondences are listed under "Mental Stimulation". Not Mercury, or the tarot suit of Swords. Also here is the malady "Loneliness (To Ease)". The correspondences for this are new moon for the phase, rose quartz for the stone, and Cupid as a corresponding god. These would only be appropriate if one was trying to ease loneliness by finding love. There are many ways to ease loneliness, from friendships to community service to simply learning to enjoy your own company. More suitable and traditional correspondences for removing negative emotions (like loneliness) would be the waning moon, Saturn, Saturday, smokey quartz, and any number of banishing gods/goddesses.Under "Deities and Other Beings" you'll find Hecate but there's no mention of her protecting women in childbirth, which is one of her more well-known and traditional attributes.Additionally, Hecate is the only goddess listed under the correspondences for Saturday. No other goddesses.I could keep going but I'd be here all day. Usually when I don't enjoy something I just move on with the thought that others will enjoy it so why add my opinion? In this case the mind-boggling amount of misinformation is useless at best and dangerous at worst. The quality of Llewellen books has drastically diminished over the years but they should be ashamed of this one especially. It's been said before that Llewellen is purposely trying to spread misinformation (there are various theories) and I hadn't given the idea much credit until now. How else can this book be explained? It's either that or a blind cash-grab.

As a pagan and magickal practitioner of more than fifteen years , this sort of comprehensive resource is a big deal to me. I already owned a few essential classics in theway of correspondence books, such as Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs and of Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic, and of course the basic correspondences sections of various other witchy books. I really wanted to be able to say this book beat them all out hands-down, but I just barely can't-quite-say-that. Nothing major, really - little things, like the fact that the 'Element of Fire' entry doesn't have "Clove" listed as being related to it. It should absolutely be there, although in Kynes' defense, the entry specifically on Clove *does* list "Fire" among its elements. But I'm pretty type-A when it comes to my magick, so I'm going to nit-pick little omissions like that. If I didn't already know about Clove (it's my favorite) then were I looking for herbs to use when working with the Element of Fire, I'd have missed-out there. However, this is still an extremely comprehensive and I dare-say indispensible collection of information.Noteworthy is that the book (thankfully) has little in the way of what often seem to be 'obligatory' explanations of the topic at hand for beginners who would otherwise fail to see the importance of such a text. Not that beginners shouldn't be welcome - they certainly should, and whereas most of the public is just barely becoming aware that witchcraft is even real, let alone "not what they saw on 'Sabrina' or 'Charmed,'" I can see the need for constant reiteration. Still, for someone who's been at this for half my life, when every single book is at least one-third entry-level gobbledy-gook, I begin to feel like I'm reading the 'Harry Potter' series again, with Rowling still explaining who 'Voldemort' is three-and-four-episodes-in for the lazy people who didn't read the earlier books first. Anyway, it's nice to find something that does alway with the formalities so near-completely. Inasmuch, this book is "not for n00bs," and almost all of its five-hundred-fifty-some-odd pages are filled with directly pertinent infoAlso worth a mention is that this text is mostly that - text. Pictures are sparse, leaving more room for the nitty-gritty for which we're all looking when we buy a book like this. There are illustrations about moon-phases and energy types, but it's mostly succinctly-laid-out charts. One thing I found refreshing is that Kynes uses "Yin" and "Yang" instead of the traditional "masculine" and "feminine" to describe the basic quality of energy of a given thing, "so as to avoid bias." I personally don't have a problem with the masculine/feminine labels, but this is still a progressive move and that's praiseworthy. One of the great things about witchcraft is that no matter what anybody says about Buckland, Gardner, Valiente, etc, there is no canonical authority or book that can or should tell witches, druids, sorcerers, etc what and how we must think or speak, and so we are able to adapt and evolve with the times, wherever it proves truly important to do so. That's why it's called "the craft of the wise," as well as why it is a prominent choice among the pioneers and trailblazers of humanty, and why it will still flourish long after the final collapse of organized religion. That's what comes to mind right now. If I have more to say later, I'll come back and edit.

DON'T pay "new" prices. I paid a fraction of Amazon's new price of $30 and bought a used like new on for $8 and it's perfect! Not even opened! Save yourself. The book (paperback) is thick with a lot of information but no pictures witch is nice sometimes...

Great resource for guidance! I found this treasure at the library and had to buy it for home use.

This is the holy grail of correspondences. Everything is tucked neatly into one book which makes navigation for information a breeze.I love how things are broken down into sections with detailed information. Not only is t easy to cross reference but it’s easy to flip back and forth throughout the book.Everything is written in simple terms so that a benniger can understand as well as a novice.Definitely a must have for your magical library.

I'm kicking myself for not buying this book sooner. All the other reference books I've flipped through and countless grimoires I've purchased in the past, all pale in comparison to the trove of correspondences this book offers. It makes it so much easier to mix ingredients and things for spellwork having so many options to know which is best for what. It's really helped me focus my intentions for my work and helped me write out new incense recipes and spells. I highly recommend that any witch have this on hand in their personal library!

This is such an amazing book! Very detailed, organized, informative. I love how this book associates color pink with Aries as well as Mars. It's something that's very refreshing to see because almost all the other books only list red as the ruling color of Aries and Mars which I don't agree with.
